Ny undersøgelse af unge danskeres brug af sociale netværkstjenester

without comments

I dag har Lisbeth Klastrup og Gitte Stald offentliggjort deres rapport om 13-25årige danskeres brug af sociale netværkstjenester og deres interesse i at bruge disse fra mobile platforme.
Undersøgelsen viser blandt andet, at 13-24årige danskere
• ikke bruger mere end to sociale netværkstjenester
Rapporten kan læses her:

I ønskes alle en fredelig, glædelig jul og et godt og postivt nyt år

PhD course — Internet Research: New Methodological Challenges and Opportunities

without comments

*First announcement*

Internet Research: New Methodological Challenges and Opportunities

Hosting most previous forms of human communication – one-to-one, one-to-many, as well as many-to-many – the internet is a unique kind of medium, a meta-medium (Kay & Richardson, 1977), which users access from mobile and other platforms. As such, it challenges media and communication studies to think again about relevant and appropriate research methodologies. The internet also provides an opportunity for research to refashion, or reinvent, standard approaches and instruments.

This PhD course provides an overview of the state of internet research, illustrating the applicability of both new and old methodologies to this field of inquiry. The central contributor to the course will be Professor Steve Jones, University of Illinois at Chicago, the founding president of the Association of Internet Researchers, and a key figure in internet research for more than a decade. Steve Jones is an FMKJ guest professor during the spring of 2010. Other contributors to the course will be announced shortly.

Time: April 14-16 2010
Place: Copenhagen

Researcher in European media?

without comments

Cemes Young Scholars (CYS) is a network under Centre for Modern European Studies (CEMES) established in 2008 by the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen. The primary task of Centre for Modern European Studies is to explore the profound transformation of the political, cultural and intellectual contours of Europe that has taken place over the last centuries. CYS is dedicated to developing interdisciplinary contacts between scholars on a national, regional and international scale, within the field of modern European studies. CYS is a network and also a research group with the objective for young scholars to benefit from the interdisciplinary and international exchange of different approaches to the fundamental categories that underpin European studies. CYS invites PhD Scholars and post-doctorals from all universities and faculties to participate in extending the network on an individual level and on the level of networking with other centres and research groups occupied with modern European studies.

CYS will:

  • Hold regular seminars with thematic discussions between the participants in the network
  • Sponsor and host international seminars, guest lectures and master classes initiated by members of CYS
  • Develop an international network of researchers
  • Publish working papers on the CEMES-website
